On September 9, the acceptance meeting for the national “Energy-Saving and Intelligent CNC Plastic Injection Molding Machine R&D and Application Demonstration” project under the National Science and Technology Support Program was held in Wuhan. An expert panel comprising representatives from 13 institutions both within and outside the province—including Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Xi'an Jiao Tong University, Chongqing University, and Wuhan University of Technology—conducted the acceptance review of the project. The meeting was chaired by Cao Xuejun, Deputy Director of the Advanced Manufacturing and Automation Division of the High-Tech Department of the Ministry of Science and Technology.

The project “Research and Development and Application Demonstration of Energy-Saving, Intelligent CNC Plastic Injection Molding Machines” was approved by the Ministry of Science and Technology in 2013 and included in the National Science and Technology Support Program for implementation. The project aims to integrate CNC technology and intelligent technologies in line with the development needs of China’s plastics machinery industry, thereby developing an intelligent, energy-saving, precision three-in-one plastic injection molding machine with independent intellectual property rights. During the project’s implementation, key technologies for the CNC system of energy-saving, intelligent injection molding machines were successfully overcome. Specifically, a CNC control system for all-electric injection molding machines with independent intellectual property rights, a specialized CNC control system for electro-hydraulic servo injection molding machines, nine specifications of servo drive systems, and nine specifications of AC permanent-magnet synchronous servo motors were developed. As a result, two series of all-electric injection molding machines and three series of electro-hydraulic servo injection molding machines were produced and marketed. A total of 1,452 sets of energy-saving, intelligent injection molding machines were manufactured and sold (including 95 sets of all-electric injection molding machines), and 1,012 sets of conventional injection molding machines underwent energy-saving upgrades. The project has demonstrated significant industrial effects and generated substantial economic and social benefits.
